Photobombing Cats

Friday the 13th today, OH NOES. Friday the 13th means (black) cats. So let's talk about cats.

Nobody ever warned me how much of an influence having a cat would have on my blog. Not just because of the cat mani's (here and here) and the cat hairs that magically appear on my tacky polish and ruin the entire mani, but also THE PHOTOBOMBING.

So far, I've showed you these gems:

And here is the latest one.
And if you're wondering: yes, this set will be making an appearance on this blog soon ;-)

Ezio is so interested in my polishes, my Geek once said I should consider using him as a photo prop rather than Queen Bee. I tried this once, just for fun =) He was a real trooper!
To think the poor thing was pretty scared of my fingers as a kitten whenever I wore white polish!

Now, don't go feeling sorry for him. Obviously, I am not holding onto him tightly. Hello, he's a cat. Cats don't put up with nonsense. Let alone one named after an Assassin.
Oh, and the polishes are one coat of a nameless Daily Lacquer (it was a gift) over Rimmel Rain Rain Go Away.

Pastel gradient with cat accent nail

Pretties. It's time for some CAT NAIL ART!

The other day I was searching Pinterest for some inspiration. I came across this pin and thought it was the cutest! But, I had to change it slightly to make it more me.

Cute or what?
It led to a weird conversation with my boss though. It went like this.

'Your nails look very subtle today.'
'Pretty, eh?'
'I didn't say that. Actually, it kind of looks like you are not wearing any polish at all and...'
'.... the green is mould?'

So, just not to end this post on a grumpy note, here is a picture of Ezio, who has picked up some fascinating new interests recently. Aka since being 'snipped'. Enjoy!

I used: Golden Rose 83, L'Oréal Colour Riche Perle de Jade, Essie Licorice, Hema white polish (no name).

Not Polish Related: Cats & Balconies

Please forgive me for posting something NPR. It's about cats though, to the interwebs that's practivally the same. Right? I mean - we have Beauty Cat and Sophisticated Cat both talking about nail polish.

Anyway. This weekend was the first where we wanted to open our balcony door. Well, the first since we've had Ezio.
Ezio is an indoors-cat. We do want him to enjoy the lovely weather as much as we do, however, we want to keep him safe at the same time. Over time, we hope to be able to teach him to enjoy the balcony but stay off the railings.
The cats on the next balcony are often outside so really I'd like to ask our neighbours how they did it, but I would feel like a weirdo ringing their bell to ask them about their cats!

So, for now we have a temporary solution. We've put a hook in the door post and attached a cat leash to it, then opened the door. Actually, I am not sure if it is called a leash. But harness sounds so cruel!
Overall he's just fine with the leash, he'll play wearing it but sometimes he likes to be a little drama queen and go all crocodile-death-roll on us.

Leaving the door open while he was on the leash seemed a bit bewildering to him. So, we moved his favourite chill-out spot to the door opening.
This is a cat hammock that he never cared for until we put it over the back of a chair. Like this -------->

We have since put weights on the chair to balance it and keep Ezio safe.
So, last weekend we moved the chair to the open door and put Ezio on his leash. That way, he could watch, hear and smell everything from the comfort of his favourite spot. I believe it was an all-round win! Here he is, in total awe. Safely indoors with his people, but fooling himself that he's actually a brave outdoors-kitty.

Of course, one of us stayed within viewing range at all times. I still hope we can find a way to train him (ha! I just said 'train' about a cat!) to stay on the balcony without the leash. If anyone has any tips, they would be greatly appreciated!

Ezio Nails

Hello again =)
Posing on my leopard print handbag, the little rascal

Is there anything easier to find on the interwebs than cats? Cat movies, cat memes, cat nail art?

I have joined the craze! It was time to pay tribute to our geeky Assassin =)

Here he is, the inspiration for this nail art ->

Unfortunately he wouldn't pose like this for me as I was doing my nails, so I had to draw him from memory.

And here are my Ezio nails. As always- click to enlarge =)

The base is Catrice Steel My Heart. This is a brushed metal effect, you can see this if you enlarge the above pictures. I didn't like it all that much when I first wore it but it worked quite well as a base for Ezio =)
Black & white are stripers. The eyes are Boujois Lime Catwalk. CATwalk =D

Have you ever done any animal nail art? Or even pet nail art? =)

Essence Breaking Dawn Pt 2 LE

Yes, I know I am so behind with this. However, I have had these polishes for some time now and just wanted to show you what they are like. It's quite cool because I also have a LE polish from when the the first movie came out, when the LE was still called A Vampire's Love rather than Twilight!

There are four polishes in this LE. A blue glitter named Jacob’s Protection, a purple glitter named Alice had a Vision – Again, a golden polish named A Piece of Forever and finally a dark grey/hard coal glitter named Edward’s love.

The cat is inspecting the polishes
I took this pic and as you can see, it didn't work out. But I just couldn't not show you just how interested Ezio is in my polishes ;-) He loves playing with my polishes and dotting tools, the little rascal.

The colours are best visible from the bottom of the bottles.

My absolute favourite is Alice Had a Vision - Again. It's a gorgeous purple packed with glitters and shimmers. It's the only polish I have photographed of the LE so far, so I think I might just skip on swatching the others ;-)

Stash update

Hello pretties!

As I said last week, it was time for a new Ribba. I bought two this time, one to fill and one spare. My Geek was not too thrilled hehe! However, he put it up almost right away <3

So, here's an updated picture:

I organize by colour, not brand. It's seldom that I think 'Oh, I'll grab an O.P.I' rather than 'Pink would be nice'.

The first Ribba (top left) is nudes, greiges, yellows, oranges, reds.

The second Ribba (top right) is pinks, purples, blues and greens.

The third Ribba (bottom left) is specials (colour changers, stampers, pigments, crackles...) and metallics.

I filled the fourth Ribba with base coats, top coats and glitters. Also, my Essie Licorice is on this Ribba, it just didn't fit anywhere else.

I have some polishes not in the Ribba's. These are sets I keep boxed. Here you can once again see Ezio checking it out ;-)
I also have a small box for things nail art related. It was labeled 'sewing accessories' but it works perfectly. In the little drawer-thingy I keep my dotting tools etc, in the big compartment I keep artificial nails, sharpies, zip bags, stickers... Things like that.
I made myself count the polishes as I was organizing them. The total comes to *drum rolls*... 120. That's not too bad, I'd say.

Stolen Snowman Mani

It's been snowing like crazy these past two weeks, so finally it felt like it was time for the Snowman mani I stole from the lovely Kristine over at Pink & Polished. Her mani was the December 9th prompt for the 12 Days of Christmas challenge. I loved it so much that I have been wanting to do this ever since =) She encouraged me to do it, so, here it is, at last =D

My take on the design
The original design by Kristine

As you can see, my version is the lazy girl's take on the design ;-)

And here is a bonus picture of Ezio being all suspicious about the first snowfall of the year:

I used: L'Oréal Colour Riche 622 Sky Fits Heaven, Essie Blanc, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Disco Ball, Essence Get The Fever, black sharpie, star sticker

Yes!!! The day has arrived. My mum and I are leaving for the airport within an hour.
I just wanted to share this picture with you of Ezio inspecting the polishes I was going to pack =)

I hope you will enjoy the scheduled posts, I will try to update in Egypt as well.

Take care and keep nail-arting!
